2008 Mid-Season Review
Dear FWGA Members,
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the FWGA,
Lakeside GC, Foster Park GC, McMillen Park GC,
Cedar Creek GC, & Coyote Creek GC, an incredible
show of support for Fort Wayne Golf is now in
full stride. In each of the (4) individual
events, the average number of entries is over (90) per
tournament. The show of support by members at
Cedar Creek (Am Open) & Coyote Creek (Parker
Motter Hall of Fame Championship) was over 40% of
the field. Thank you all for your outstanding
support of the FWGA.
'Top Ten' Means City Exemption
In case you haven't taken the opportunity to view
our 2008 Men's City Exempt List,
take notice of the following individuals who have
now played their way into the City Championship:
Spring Open: Derek Baran, Aaron Gorall, Hal
Spranger
Little City: Andy Rang
Am Open: Alex Bunner, Jeff Davis, BJ Hayden, Cole
Kellerman, Brian Lonergan
Parker Motter HOF: Justin Hueber, Jared McGinn
(HS)
Congratulations!
2008 Mid-Season Winners
The
Spring Open kicked off our 2008 Season at Foster Park. Scott Pieri
was able to defend his 2007
championship with a come from behind round of
4-under par 67 to nip Hartley McLeod III by one shot.
Flight Winners included Joe Hayden (147) and Alex
Bunner (160).
Next up the schedule was the
Little City
Championship played at McMillen Park GC. This time, Hartley
returned the favor and was able to pull off a
1-shot victory over Scott. Flight Winners included Justin
Devirgilio (143 in a playoff over Mike Davis) and
Kyle Calloway (149).
After a very long weather delay at the
Amateur Open
(Cedar Creek GC), Mike Davis came through with
his first FWGA victory by shooting a 1-under par
(70). Mike edged out fellow Cedar Creek member and
2-time City Champion, Bret Richards (72) and Alex
Bunner (72). Net Division
champion was Stephen
White with a 6-under par (65).
The inaugural
Parker
Motter Hall of Fame Championship (Parker
Motter Tribute), was an outstanding
success. It was great to see one of our
long-time FWGA members come through with a one-shot
victory. Pat Houlihan's score of 2-under par
(70) was enough to beat out Joe Hayden and Mark
Rietdorf.
Congratulations to all!
